The threat of coal in your stocking isn’t the only thing we should be worried about this season. Covid threatens this holiday season as new cases and hospital overflow begins to mount. While months of preparation and warnings have been implemented, the impact of Covid-19 and its variants will impact this season. As Covid threatens this holiday season, many are looking at the long term impacts as well.
“In 12 states and the nation’s capital, the seven-day average of admissions with confirmed COVID-19 has climbed at least 50% from two weeks earlier, according to U.S. Department of Health and Human Services data. The areas with the largest percentage upticks were Connecticut, New Jersey, Washington, D.C., Vermont and Rhode Island,” according to the Bloomberg article.
While vaccinations across the country top out at about 60% of the population, according to the CDC, that leaves a large number of vulnerable people in the country at risk. While Covid threatens this holiday season, the real threat comes with gatherings of people who are both vaccinated and unvaccinated.
