Daily COVID-19 cases are now above 100,000 per day for the first time since February. Cases are also at a higher level now compared to last summer, when there were not any vaccines available. Health Officials have continued to “sound the alarm” over vaccination rates that are lagging behind the threat of the Delta variant. An article by the Guardian reports that “the seven-day average of hospital admissions has also increased more than 40% from the week before, with health workers describing frustration and exhaustion as hospitals in Covid hotspots were again overwhelmed with patients” This all coming 20 months since the start of the pandemic in the United States.
